TIP: Problems with Internet Explorer 8

July 15, 2009

No-WindowsIf you loaded IE8 because you wanted to or because it came thru on an automatic backup and it’s causing problems here’s a solution:

Go to add remove programs and select IE8 to be removed.  It will automagically be removed and IE7 reinstalled.

I was having  several problems and they all went away when I went back as described above.

From Jerry Heere:

Microsoft has a FREE image resizing program that is very easy to download and install.
It is one of a group of programs called PowerToys. These programs are from Microsoft but are not supported by Microsoft.
img_powertoysJust go to http://www.tinyurl.com/553fw6 and look on the right side of your screen. You’ll see a list of all the current PowerToys and the Image  Resizer is near the end of the list.  The program is 521KB and takes about a second to d/l unless you are on dialup then it will take about 2 minutes.
As usual you can select SAVE or RUN.
RUN will install it right away.

After it’s installed, when you right click on an image file or group of files you’ll see an option to resize.  You have a choice of 3 sizes,  small medium or large. After you make your selection the program will resize the file or group of files and will make a copy using the same number that is currently on your file but it will add the word, small, medium or large to the existing file name, and place the new file in the same folder as your original file, which  will remain intact.  I suggest the first time you use the program make all 3 sizes so you get an idea what you are creating.  (It also has a 4 th option to create a very small file for use with a hand held device.)
PowerToys only work with XP, not Vista.
